Although there’s nothing like the feeling of the sun warming your face as a gentle mountain breeze drifts by and time stands still for a moment on the links, the quieter days of winter carry blessings of their own. Nearby, sought-after North Carolina ski resorts make for more days on snow, additional runs, and the challenge of new terrain. Live musical events wrap attendees in a cozy blanket of sound, such as the winter music series at Beech Mountain Resort and Sugar Mountain Resort. The calendar also includes cozy gatherings for writers and a renowned film festival to inspire and delight. In today’s post, we’re sharing a handful of ways to relish in the joys of the winter season.

Make the Most of Special Ski Nights

Beech Mountain Resort’s Men’s and Ladies’ Nights run through early March on Wednesday (Men’s) and Thursday (Ladies) nights. Described as “the perfect midweek getaway for guys,” Men’s Night runs from 5 pm - 9 pm on Wednesdays and includes discounted lift tickets and night skiing. Ladies’ Night on Thursdays is also from 5 pm - 9 pm, and it is a great opportunity to connect with friends.

Celebrating 20 Years of Snowboarding

Sugar Mountain’s Ski & Snowboard Adult Race League recently celebrated its 20th year; recreational teams come together to compete weekly. The six-week series runs through Monday, February 9, when the top team will claim the High Country Cup.

Live Music in the Mountains: Sugar and Beech

Both Sugar Mountain Resort and Beech Mountain Resort offer live musical nights for a sprinkling of après‑ski fun. Expect a diverse range of music, from classic rock to blues and country bands. As always, check their websites and social media channels for the most up-to-date information:
