Majestic Mountain Views | Luxury Golf Community in Banner Elk, NC
There are few things sweeter than summertime in the High Country—the mountain flora and fauna attract international attention, temperatures land at around 75 degrees, and players look forward to the joys and challenges that await on Elk River Club’s Signature Jack Nicklaus Golf Course. The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to more than 140 species of trees; the region serves as a refuge for 250 different species of birds (and counting), white-tailed deer, elk, river otters, flying squirrels and more. Founded in 1982, our luxury golf community in Banner Elk, NC came to life thanks to the vision held by brothers Harry and Spencer Robbins.
The State’s First Signature Course
Through a partnership with Jack Nicklaus, his first North Carolina Signature Course in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains came to be. In a 2005 letter, Nicklaus wrote, “Over twenty years ago, Harry and Spencer Robbins asked me to create a golf course which would be the centerpiece of a special new development and club set in North Carolina’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.” He notes the dynamic course is enjoyable for members and world-class tournament players alike.
Exceptional Mountain Golf
Consistently ranked as one of North Carolina’s top ten golf courses and known as one of America’s premier clubs, the course maintains its pristine condition thanks to the daily, pre-dawn attention it receives. A team of 20 cares for our 35 acres of bentgrass fairways, cuts 19 greens and 75 tees, and rakes every bunker. Players are drawn to the course for many reasons, including the rich mountain terrain that is always transforming and the excitement that comes in waves while playing our four par threes. The surroundings change once again at the back nine holes, this time into a tree-lined, tranquil Blue Ridge scene complete with mountain streams.
